MRT Food Sensitivity Test
The MRT is one of the only food sensitivity tests that we recommend if someone is wondering about what foods produce inflammation.
Test your food triggers
The MRT (Mediator Release Test) is your secret weapon for uncovering food sensitivities and inflammation triggers. By testing your body’s immune response to specific foods and chemicals, it helps pinpoint what might be causing bloating, fatigue, migraines, or other nagging symptoms.
One thing to note: food sensitivities are a symptom of poor gut health.
Food sensitivities are like your gut’s way of waving a little red flag and saying, 'Hey, something’s not right in here!' When your gut health is out of whack it can make your immune system overreact to certain foods. Instead of digesting and moving on, your body treats these foods like unwelcome guests. The good news? Addressing the root cause (your gut!) can help calm things down and get your body back to loving food again. So, food sensitivities are typically not life long.
So, when should someone take the MRT?
If you're having gut symptoms or other symptoms that you're wondering if it's a food sensitivity, I would make sure that you either do the MRT with a stool test or wait on MRT and do stool testing first! Many times our patients just need stool testing and don't have to worry about food sensitivities because they are feeling better by working on that root cause.
If you're relatively healthy and want the MRT just out of curiosity, you can take it anytime!
The MRT test can be really great for these conditions:
- Crohn's
- Colitis
- Migraines
- Eczema
- Autoimmune disorders
The MRT and stool test combo is a really great one.
Once we get the MRT results, we're able to dial in the foods to eat and the foods to avoid (temporarily!)
Why we recommend only MRT?
Most lab tests for food sensitivities test IgG levels, but elevation of IgG antibodies doesn't mean inflammation will follow. It can also just mean that your body has recognized this food that you've consumed. Therefore it could be harmless and you may end up avoiding foods that you don't need to.
